Investment Approach
We are seeking to identify, execute and support direct investments in businesses that require capital to facilitate succession planning or to pursue growth opportunities.
We aim to be both a patient investor and a strong business partner. We are a resource to the companies we invest in, and provide an experienced team that understands their goals and is committed to building on their success over the long-term.
Our investment criteria for private equity transactions includes the following elements:
- We are seeking to invest in businesses that have demonstrated consistent earning power over a number of years.
- We seek to back management teams with a demonstrated history of building great businesses and a reputation of being strong ethical leaders.
- While we typically acquire majority control in our investments, we are willing to consider a minority position in certain circumstances.
- We are focused on businesses whose operations are based primarily in Canada.
- Our investment range is $15 to $40 million with a focus on private equity transactions and investments in other alternative asset classes.
- Our targeted time horizon for investments is 10-20 years.
- We will co-invest with other parties when the right opportunities arise. This is consistent with our willingness to work with external asset managers to maximize the long-term value of our portfolio.
